slim size, because it looks more elegant and
comfortable to put
in the pocket. One of the smartphone device in the market that comes with thin
design are the Sony
Xperia Arc Ericsson
S, which has a thickness of only 8.7mm.
This device is not the thinnest in the world, but the smartphone with a thickness below
10mm, is practically very thin.
Design
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S come with 4.2 inch TFT touchscreen with
resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, capable to produced 16 million colours, scratch-resistant with Reality Display Mobile BRAVIA Engine technology. There
are 3 physical
buttons Back, Home
and Options, and at the top of the screen there are earpiece, light sensor
and light notification.
Interestingly, close to the microUSB
port on the right
side of the phone there is a notification light that
serves to provide information about the status of the USB cable / charger
if it is installed correctly or not.
On
the right side, there are volume buttons
and camera, which
allows you to take
a picture or start recording
video. the Camera plus flash and Sony Ericsson 3D logo
can also be found on the back side,
and for you as a
fan of music, 3.5mm jack can be found
at the top left side of the phone.
Sony Ericsson also provides a HDMI port
which is located on the upper side, near the Power button, so users can connect the smartphone with HD TV.
Interface
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and have a
variety of typical widgets for Home page. There
are 5 pages, by default you
can do a quick
setup for WiFi,
Bluetooth, and screen
brightness profile on the left of the page.
On the second page you can create shortcuts to phonebook contacts
in 4 × 3
and available space which can
be filled. Another option of
this widget is
a list of calls (call logs) and
below it there is still enough
room to put a shortcut
applications.
On the third page there is a search box and
widget Timescape. The Timescape is its
function as a feeder that would collect
the status of Facebook and Twitter complete
with their profile photos.
On
the fourth page is a multimedia page. There is a music player widget is composed
of album art
and the previous control,
play/pause and next, as well as
song duration information. In addition there is also a quick shortcut
to the music
player, photo gallery and video.
And on the last page or the rightmost
there is only one default widget, the weather
information.
Performance
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S powered by 1.4 GHz Qualcomm MSM8255T Snapdragon
processor with Adreno 205 GPU, whose performance is also supported by 512MB of Ram memory.
According
to some
sources the benchmark results of this smartphone,
Test using the Quadrant
got a score of 1641, whereas
with the Antutu get
3568 points, with the ability to 3.8MB/s
for writes to the
SD card and
8.5MB/s for reading
the SD card.
Moreover for storage media, Sony Ericsson provides 1GB (up to 320MB free) internal storage, which can be expanded through microSD up to 32GB

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S
equipped with 8.1 megapixels camera with LED flash and Auto focus,
and has some interesting camera features such as theExmor
R for mobile CMOS sensor which can
capture images
very well even in the dark, capable
to HD video record 720p up to 30 frames per second, and also
equipped with 3D Sweep Panorama feature.
Sound
Sony Ericsson gives xLOUD features
on this device that
would magnify the
sound speakers, with equalizer options such

classical, dance, heavy metal, hip hop, jazz, pop and rock. So
