This umbrella is not an ordinary umbrella,
but a new advanced innovation in the form of an umbrella, in addition to
protecting us from rain and sun can also function as battery chargers and
capable of amplifying signals of communication devices such as smartphones.
This advanced umbrella known as the Booster
Brolly and designed for the telecommunications company, the Vodafone, by a team
of students doctoral program (PhD) from University College London who led by
Dr.Kenneth Tong.
To provide an alternative solution to the
need of recharge cell phone battery at any time, the Booster Brolly uses 12
solar panels attached to the umbrella canopy. The Panel is powered by 12x2 volt
and convert solar energy into electrical energy that will be stored in a
battery contained in the handle of the umbrella, and these batteries can be
connected with a cell phone or other electronic devices via USB.
According to some sources, the process of
charging a battery for a smartphone only takes less than three hours via the
USB connection located on the handle of the umbrella. Even can also be used to
power the LED lights are also contained in the handle of the umbrella.
Moreover, if we are in an area that has a
weak signal, the Booster Brolly, also will increase the signal strength for
your communication device. So we do not need to worry, while vacationing on the
beach or at the top of the mountain.
The Booster Brolly combines high-gain
antenna and low-powered signal amplifier, to collect radio waves from nearby
mobile phone transmitters, thus generating a signal
beam on the head of the user, so allows users and those around him for
a network connection.
Unfortunately, this unique umbrella is
still in development stage.
But it was rumored,
the prototype of the Vodafone Booster Brolly
will be present at
the Isle Of Wight Festival 2012 later
this month in the UK .
