Intel as one of the world's largest processor maker, reportedly is preparing a new flagship processor, from Sandy Bridge family and known as the i7-3970X Extreme Edition. But according to some sources, these processors will be launched in the 4th quarter of this year or the end of this year.
The Intel Core i7-3970X Extreme Edition will use LGA 2011 socket, and still use the Sandy Bridge E architecture, produced with a 32nm manufacturing process. This processor has 6 core processor(hexa-core) with a speed of 3.5 GHz and equipped with the Turbo Boost feature, so the speed can be increased up to 4GHz.
Like the previous generations and known as the Intel Core i7-3960X, the new flagship processor also features 15MB of shared L3 cache, HyperThreading and unlocked multiplier, but predicted it will take considerable resources, because according to some sources, the processor uses the TDP (Thermal Design Power) up to 150W.
This processor is not intended for regular use market but for the enthusiast market, gamer or heavy multimedia, if we look at the performance offered by the new 6 core processor from Intel. Unfortunately intel has not provided information about the price of this processor, and the exact release date.
